Most 3D printers offer a progress bar or percentage indicator on their display.
However, by default, this percentage is only updated when printing from SD card. When printing directly through OctoPrint, the progress bar remains empty. This small plugin remedies the situation by injecting M73 set build percentage commands into the print stream. Note: Not all printers support this feature.
In order for this to work, your firmware needs to understand the M73 command. See below for instructions for Marlin. You will need a recent version of Marlin, 1. The M73 feature is not enabled by default. Note: The older Marlin versions 1.
The plugin should work as-is. Once enabled, the plugin will automatically inject M73 commands in the printer's serial stream. There are two options to fine-tune the plugin's behavior, available through the M73 Progress tab in OctoPrint settings.2007 ford focus se wagon fuse diagram hd quality jacobson
Output time left : Sends the estimated time remaining using the R parameter. This is only supported by certain firmwares e.4x4 van for sale craigslist colorado
Marlin 2. This option is enabled by default; most firmwares will just ignore this extra parameter if not supported.
Use time estimate : By default, the plugin uses OctoPrint's built-in progress estimate, which is based on the progress inside a G-code file. This option is particularly useful for PrintTimeGenius users. Skip to content.

Find file. For those of you using Octoprint I starting using it recently and love itI wanted to see what were your favorite features that you use all the time and what are your "must-have" plugins.
For me, I love the basic functionality of being able to start a print directly out of Prusa Slicer and monitor it from anywhere.
I also like that I can record Time lapse videos - partly for fun, but partly because when my print fails I can go back and see where it happened.
Octoprint Dashboard - shows all key printer, print, and RPi statistics on one page. It seems to be in active development so is improving all the time. M37 ETA Override - replaces Octoprint's print time estimates which are typically not super accurate with output of the M73 commands inserted by Prusa Slicer. DisplayLayerProgress - shows which layer is bring printed out of the total layers as well as well as the current and total print height and how long each layer took to print.
This is used by Octoprint Dashboard above to display layer statistics, but can also be used without it. TouchUI - makes it much easier to interact with Octoprint from smaller screens such as phones or touch-screens. I'm going to be integrating cabinet lighting and other goodies into the setup eventually and Octoprint provides the "embedded smarts" for controlling those features. Hi mdaneman. Happy to hear you are using OctoPod iOS app.
Yes, I am using the Octopd plugin. Very handy with notifications. If so, I have a request. Otherwise when my printer was off, I was getting a notice every 5 min and had to shut down octoprint to make it stop.
Yep, I'm the author of OctoPod. There you can set the number of minutes between repeated notifications or even disable them. I just released version 0. Is it MMU notifications e. Long press on the notification and you can mute it for 1 or 8 hours. If that is not your case then I can add the same functionality to whatever notification is spamming you. I will need to know which one is.

Estimable Member.Running Octoprint on a Raspberry Pi 2 attached to my printer lets me upload prints directly from Slic3r, start printing them and monitor progress remotely on a webcam, control basic printer functions like temperatures and print cancellation.
Most of the instructions here I cobbled together from guides I found online and advice I received in forums. A few sources offhand that were astoundingly helpful:. These groups are active and expertly informed.

It's possible. I checked. I use this one because it's really easy to install and print and it does what I need. RPi camera board is a bit far-sighted for this application so the build plate is a bit blurry. I don't mind too much since i just want to see if my print is nice and neat or a pile of spaghetti so I know to hit the cancel button.
I already ordered a real webcam to try out instead with a shorter focal distance. So you have your Octopi running and your camera working and pointed at the print bed. Now that we have our Raspberry Pi print server running and our webcam installed we need to configure Octoprint to talk to our printer.
Select the following options:. I use the following gcode, it seems to work fine. It makes a terrible noise. Copy and paste the code now or remember where to find it. Autoconfig automatically loads prints uploaded from Slic3r CustomControl lets you add buttons to the control tab like "Emergency Stop" or other creative things.
PrintHistory lets me know that I'm improving over time and when to ask for a couple bucks from my friends for filament costs. We will go in order of the subsections but save the Custom G-code section for last since it is the only one that changes between profiles and we don't want to duplicate our changes for each profile. As you can see the gcode is very similar for each profile. The only thing changing is the extruder numbers T0 for right, T1 for left and some instructions to home the nozzles at the correct coordinates.
Getting familiar with G-code is a bit daunting at firstbut is really the key to mastering 3d printing. I'm definitely an amateur at this point.
Leave default You can change this if you're getting a lot of drool apparently but I'm not having a lot of luck. Since this is the only section that differs between printer profiles, we will begin saving our profiles here. At the top left you should see "- default -" selected with a floppy disk remember those? There are ways this G-code could be better, I just wish I knew them right now. These scripts are working for me on a late FFCP with sailfish v7.

It only takes a minute to sign up. Why doesn't Octoprint just take the remaining time from the printer and display that? Or can I change a setting so that it does?
Octoprint is a generic application that has to work with a rather wide variety of printers and printer firmwares. The time estimation that is shipped with Octoprint by default is a very basic method that doesn't rely on any specific printer features. This also makes it kind of useless in some cases, and not very accurate.
There are M73 commands added that tell the printer how far along the print job is. As for why Octoprint doesn't do this by default, the major reason is likely that this method only works for specific printers and slicers, and only works well if the slicer can actually do good estimates for a particular printer. This is the case for the Prusa because it supports this feature and the slicer is maintained by them and has enough information to make good estimates.
But this is not the case for all printers. The feature is also not entirely standardized as far as I understand, e. Prusa uses slightly different M73 commands to give estimates for normal and silent mode.
There are plugins that can read the M73 estimates, you could try that. I never tried them myself, this plugin seems to do what you want from a quick glance. Sign up to join this community.

I'm running Dashboard and DisplayLayerTime plugins I have a few more, but these are the ones that I imagine could slow things down. I am running my first print through Octoprint Pi zero W and It's giving me a predicted time of 5 days!!!
It's a simple back cover for a project case which I would expect to take a couple of hours at most. I had hoped to be able to upload to SD card but I cant see how to do it.

The Octoprint estimated print time is usually way off unless you using something like the PrintTimeGenius pluginso you can ignore it. I still haven't done a run-off, we'll need to get around it sometime in the near future. However, be warned, it's very slow since the upload goes through the printer's serial connection. I've never done a comparison to determine if printing from OctoPrint is slower than from an SD card, but I don't really care.
OctoPrint is so useful and indispensable in my workflow I couldn't imagine running my 2 Bear Mk3s printers without it. However, OctoPrint on it's own is horrible at predicting print times. On the other hand I've found Prusa Slicer to be incredibly accurate with print time predictions. There is a "Must Have" OctoPrint plugin that marries the two.Chodu papa gay sex story
I assume it basically does the same thing. Thanks for that. I still don't know where Octoprint puts files while printing them. Presumably it's on the Pi micro sd card somewhere. It works but I'm just curious. Good news is that my 5 day print run actually took 3 hours which was much as expected! I have tried to install one of the ETA override addins but they fail to install with an error saying PIP is out of date.
I haven't a clue what that means or how to fix it. Forum Icons: Forum contains no unread posts Forum contains unread posts Mark all read. Please Login or Register.
